The Mediterranean coast makes up most of Turkey’s southern border. It stretches from Dalyan in the west to Antakya in the east. As you drive along the diverse coast you will encounter vacation resorts. sleepy villages, rugged coastline, sandy beaches, modern cities with international ports, small agricultural communities, and remnants of history stretching back millenia. It is a fascinating region to visit but beware: it gets unbearably hot in July and August!
Mediterranean Coast Orientation
The coast can be divided into the western Mediterranean (west of Antalya) and the eastern Mediterranean (east of Antalya). Major airports include Dalaman airport (on the western Mediterranean), Antalya airport, Gazipaşa airport, and Adana airport (for the far eastern coast).
